Ep 1. Little Britain Episode #1.1

Little Britain is a British sketch comedy show that ran from 2003 to 2006. The first episode of the first season, Little Britain Episode #1.1, introduces viewers to a cast of recurring characters played by the show's creators, Matt Lucas and David Walliams.

The episode begins with a brief introduction, in which Lucas and Walliams are seen standing in front of a red curtain, with Lucas declaring "Welcome to Little Britain!" in a broad West Country accent.

The first recurring sketch is set in a busy airport terminal, where Walliams plays a character named "Tom Baker" (not to be confused with the real-life actor of the same name), who is trying to board a plane to Edinburgh. Despite his protestations that he has a valid ticket, Baker is repeatedly turned away by the ticket agent, played by Lucas, who humiliates him by announcing his plight over the airport's PA system. Eventually, Baker learns that his ticket is for next week's flight, not today's, and wanders off disconsolately as Lucas taunts him.

The next sketch takes place in a hospital ward, where Lucas plays a morbidly obese man named "Bubbles DeVere" who is recovering from liposuction. DeVere is waited on hand and foot by a team of nurses, whom he delights in sexually harassing. Meanwhile, Walliams plays a hospital administrator who is trying to placate DeVere's complaints about the food, which he considers insufficiently gourmet.

Another recurring character is introduced in the form of "Vicky Pollard", a teenage girl with a strong Bristol accent who is constantly getting into trouble with the law. In her first appearance, she is interviewed by a social worker played by Lucas, who tries to get her to take responsibility for her actions. However, Vicky is more interested in texting on her phone and talking about boys, and eventually storms out in frustration.

Other recurring sketches include Walliams playing a man named "Des Kaye" who is trying to organise a stag night for his friend, and Lucas playing a "Daffyd Thomas", who claims to be the "only gay in the village" (a reference to his small Welsh hometown). In both cases, the characters are clueless and somewhat pathetic.

The episode concludes with a recurring sketch in which Lucas and Walliams play elderly ladies named "Marjorie Dawes" and "Eileen Poor", respectively, who host a weight-loss group. The sketch features a number of other characters who are trying to lose weight, including "Fat Fighters" member "Anne", who is coached by Marjorie in a series of humiliating exercises.

Overall, Little Britain Episode #1.1 is a great introduction to the characters and style of the show. With its mix of irreverent humour, exaggerated accents, and recurring catchphrases, it's easy to see why the show became such a hit with British audiences. While not every sketch is a winner, the episode has enough laughs to keep viewers coming back for more.
