After Miles' botched attempt to kill his clone in the first episode, he wakes up in a shallow grave in the woods left there by the cleaner, who he meets in the process. Miles realizes he has a lot of explaining to do to his wife, Kate, who he discovers has been taking fertility treatments without his knowledge. Despite the awkwardness from the previous episode, Miles decides to double down on his clone, who he dubs simply 'New Miles,' and enlists his help in rejuvenating his marriage and personal relationships. However, things start to unravel as New Miles proves to be a more successful, charming version of his original counterpart. As the two versions of Miles vie for dominance, Kate and other loved ones begin to suspect that something is amiss and demand answers.
Throughout the episode, the unique perspective of both the original and clone Miles is explored, with both characters providing different insights into their shared struggles. While both versions of Miles are ostensibly the same person, differences in their experiences and circumstances have led them down distinctly different paths. Original Miles is worn down by the mundanity of his life and relationships, while New Miles is invigorated by the opportunity to start anew. However, their fundamental similarities prove to be a double-edged sword, as they both vie for control of their life and future.
Living with Yourself episode 2 also continues the series' exploration of the broader implications of the cloning technology. The cleaner, who is revealed to be the creator of the cloning process, ominously warns Miles of the 'other side' of the cloning process, further hinting at its potential to cause chaos. Kate's fertility treatments bring up even further ethical questions about the potential uses and abuses of the technology and how it may change our relationships and understanding of life at its core.
As the episode comes to a close, tensions between the two Miles escalate, leaving the future of the dynamic duo uncertain. Living with Yourself establishes itself in the second episode as a thoughtful exploration of identity, relationships, and the dangers of meddling with what it means to be alive.
