Ep 11. The Grim Reaper

The Grim Reaper is the eleventh episode of the sixth season of the popular television comedy-drama M*A*S*H.

The episode revolves around the arrival of a new surgeon, Major Frank N. Marion, who has a reputation for being a "grim reaper," an unlucky surgeon who has lost numerous patients on the operating table. Hawkeye and BJ become increasingly concerned about the Major's surgical abilities and decide to observe him during a routine appendectomy.

During the surgery, the patient's condition deteriorates rapidly. The Major is unable to control the internal bleeding, and the patient dies on the operating table. Hawkeye and BJ confront the Major about his surgical techniques, and he reveals that he has lost all confidence in himself as a surgeon.

Meanwhile, Colonel Potter receives news that his old friend and former commanding officer, General Clayton, has died of a heart attack. He begins to question his own ability to make important decisions and becomes increasingly withdrawn from his colleagues.

As the episode progresses, the Major's confidence in himself is restored after he performs a successful surgery on a wounded soldier. Potter also comes to terms with Clayton's death and the role he played in it. The episode ends with the doctors of the 4077th paying their respects to General Clayton and moving forward from their losses.

The Grim Reaper deals with themes of self-doubt, loss, and the emotional toll of working in a high-pressure environment.
