Ep 1. Guess Whose Back?

Maxxx is a British comedy television series created by and starring O-T Fagbenle. The show follows the story of a former boyband member Maxxx (Fagbenle) who is trying to make a comeback in the music industry. The first episode titled "Guess Whose Back?" sets the stage for the rest of the season.

The episode begins with Maxxx waking up in his apartment, surrounded by empty bottles, and pills, showing his self-destructive behavior. Don introduces Maxxx to a new band member, Jourdan (Jourdan Raine), who is a talented singer and songwriter. Maxxx is not convinced and is reluctant to kick out his longtime band members, Jermaine (Alan Asaad), and Tamzin's brother, Amit (Jake Maskall) who have stuck by him through thick and thin.

Maxxx is determined to win Tamzin back and convinces Jermaine and Amit to help him win her back. Together, they hatch a plan to break into Tamzin's house and record a heartfelt video message for her. However, they are caught by Tamzin's housekeeper and are forced to flee the scene.

Maxxx is frustrated with the slow progress of his comeback and decides to take matters into his own hands. He goes to a local radio station to promote his new single, but things do not go as planned. The radio DJ humiliates Maxxx on air, which leads to Maxxx lashing out and breaking the station's equipment.

Don tells Maxxx that he needs to focus more on writing new material and less on winning Tamzin back. Maxxx tries to brush off this advice, but it ends up taking a toll on him emotionally. He goes to a therapist, Dr. Pompidou (Joanna Lumley), who helps him realize that he needs to let go of the past and focus on the present.

The episode ends with Maxxx apologizing to Don and agreeing to work harder on his comeback. He also has a heartfelt conversation with Jourdan, where he apologizes for not giving her a chance and offers to make music with her.

Overall, the first episode of Maxxx sets up the premise of the show and explores Maxxx's troubled relationships, both personal and professional. The episode is filled with humorous moments, but also touches on deeper themes such as addiction, self-worth, and the desire for acceptance.
