As always, the diner is open from midnight to 7 am, catering to those who work odd hours or just need a late-night snack.

While waiting for his food, Fujimura observes the other diners. There's the usual assortment of quirky characters, including a woman who always orders an egg on rice, a taxi driver who loves curry, and a college student who specializes in making toast.

As the night progresses, the customers share their stories and concerns with one another. A young couple comes in looking dreary, and it's revealed that they're having troubles conceiving a child. The woman ultimately confides in the other diners and her husband, and they all work together to offer her encouragement and support.

Master explains that he wants to make sure they are perfectly cooked, and Fujimura finally gets his first taste of the dish. He's blown away by the simplicity and quality of the flavors, and he realizes that he's been missing out on life's little pleasures.

As the night comes to a close, the diners all say their goodbyes and head out into the dawn. Fujimura is a changed man, and he realizes that he needs to slow down and appreciate the simple things in life, like a well-cooked meal and the company of friends and strangers alike.
