Listeners is an original anime series by MBS that premiered in April 2020. Set in a world where music has been banned, the show follows Echo, a young boy who stumbles upon a mysterious girl named μ (pronounced "Mu") who possesses the power to control a special kind of robot known as a "Player." Together, they embark on a journey to uncover the secrets of μ's power and bring music back to the world.

Echo is voiced by Jun Fukuyama, known for his roles in Code Geass and Assassination Classroom. He is a teenage boy who lives in a small town called Liverchester in a post-apocalyptic world where music no longer exists. He is fascinated by the idea of music and longs to hear it, but has never actually heard any in his life. One day, while venturing into a nearby junkyard, he finds a mysterious girl in a box who has no memories and speaks in an unknown language. He names her μ and brings her to his best friend, a mechanic named Jimi Stonefree.

μ is voiced by Reina Ueda, known for her roles in Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba and Sword Art Online Alternative: Gun Gale Online. Despite her lack of memories, she possesses a special power that allows her to control a Player, a giant robot that can produce music. Together with Echo and Jimi, she sets out to find other Players and uncover the secrets of her power.

Jimi Stonefree is voiced by Rie Kugimiya, known for her roles in Fullmetal Alchemist and Toradora!. He is a skilled mechanic who runs a workshop in Liverchester. He is initially skeptical of μ's power, but after seeing what she can do, he becomes an ally to Echo and μ on their journey.

The trio faces many challenges on their journey, including battling other Players controlled by rival factions who want to use music for their own gain. They also encounter various characters along the way who join them on their mission, including a young girl named Nir, who is searching for her missing sister, and a mysterious man named Denka.

Listeners is a unique anime series that blends music and mecha elements with a post-apocalyptic world. The concept of a world without music is intriguing and sets up a compelling story that is filled with action and adventure. The characters are likable and their relationships with each other, particularly the dynamic between Echo and μ, add an emotional touch to the series. The show also features a great soundtrack that includes contributions from popular musicians such as Yoshiki and JIN. Overall, Listeners is a must-watch for fans of music, mecha, and post-apocalyptic anime.

Listeners is a series that is currently running and has 1 seasons (12 episodes). The series first aired on April 3, 2020.
