Monstar is a new television series that is airing in South Korea. It is centered around several young high school students who all have various psychological issues that they are dealing with. However, these kids are not your ordinary students. They are actually much different from others, they have learned to heal themselves and their issues by using the power of music. While they all have different stories and problems, music is the one thing that brings them all together and allows them to relate to one another.

When a member of a popular band has a run in with one of his fans, his reputation is greatly affected. In order to help control the situation, his agency advises him to attend school for awhile to allow the incident to blow over. In the mean time, a transfer student from New Zealand gets attention from her classmates because of both her talent and the fact that she is a little different from the others students. Both students have several run ins with each other as well as their other classmates. But, as they start to get to know each other better, they discover that the one thing that allows them to connect with each other and express themselves.

As they connect more, some of the students decide to join a band together in an attempt to help each other achieve their dreams. Joining the band and expressing themselves does not stop them from being involved in several incidences throughout the series. Nor does it stop them from experiencing high school romance. Monstar brings to life the real challenges and battles that high school students are prone to facing on a daily basis. It also empowers teens by showing them that their are positive ways for them to express themselves and deal with any issues that they may be having or dealing with.

  • Yoon Sul-Chan (Yong Joon-Hyung) is the vocalist for the group "Man in Black". He carries deep wounds within his mind, but doesn't express his feelings. Because of his hot temper, he causes trouble.
