My Family is British television comedy show that was created by Fred Barron and aired over a 20 years from the year 2000. The show features a fictional middle class British family, Ben and Susan Harper, a married couple with their three children. The show features Ben, a dentist, his wife Susan, a tour guide in a museum and their three children, Nick, Janey and Michael Harper. Ben is constantly grumpy and sarcastic, has put up with the constant nagging of his manipulative wife and his children who are always asking him for money. Even though he loves his family, he can't wait for some quiet when the kids move out. Susan is known to be a control freak and for getting away with what she wants. Susan is actively dating and fashion is top on her daily list and that follows by her regular shopping needs. The Harpers are well aware of her terrible cooking. Nick is the oldest son. He is the joker of the family, and his main determination in life is to get a long term job since he's been through various jobs, each one more surreal than the last. Nick's sister Janey, is a typical selfish teenage girl and just like her mother loves to get her own way. Last by not least, Michael the youngest, portrays himself as the most sane and most intelligent of them all. Michael blames his family for being scared psychologically by their crazy behaviors resulting in his lack of success with his past girlfriend relationships. He eventually opens up to being gay which was accepted by his loving family.
