However, Paula caught him red-handed and that's when the situation spiraled out of control. The handyman panicked and ended up stabbing Paula multiple times with a kitchen knife in a fit of rage. The handyman leads the police to the place he had hidden evidence of the robbery, and the police were able to recover key pieces of evidence including a knife used to commit the murder. The handyman was charged with the murder of Paula and was sentenced to 60 years in prison.

This episode of Nightmare Next Door sheds light on how even the most peaceful of neighborhoods can be home to violent crimes. Paula's murder shocked the community, and the lack of an arrest for several years had left them feeling helpless and afraid.
