In the third episode of the second season of Not Going Out, titled "Librarian," Lee (played by comedian Lee Mack) is on a mission to impress Lucy (Sally Bretton) after learning that she has a thing for librarians. To do this, he decides to transform himself into a bookish and knowledgeable librarian.
Meanwhile, Tim (Tim Vine) is helping his girlfriend Daisy (Katy Wix) with her new job as a train conductor, but his efforts quickly go awry when he accidentally boards a train without a ticket and gets into trouble with the conductor.
As Lee's attempts at becoming a librarian become increasingly desperate, he turns to his friend Guy (Hugh Dennis) for help, but things only get worse as Lee finds himself in increasingly ridiculous situations. Ultimately, Lee's efforts to impress Lucy end up causing more harm than good, and he realizes that being himself is the best way to win her over.
Throughout the episode, the show's trademark humor is on full display, with plenty of physical comedy and witty one-liners from the cast. As always, Mack's impeccable timing and delivery are a highlight, while Vine and Dennis provide excellent support as Lee's hapless sidekicks.
Overall, "Librarian" is a hilarious and entertaining addition to the Not Going Out canon, and a must-watch for fans of the show's unique brand of comedy.
