Lee (Lee Mack) is keen to impress Lucy (Sally Bretton) with his rock star credentials and reckons joining a local amateur dramatics society will help him achieve his goal. He quickly lands a leading role in the play, 'The Life and Times of Vera Baker', but his performance leaves a lot to be desired. Meanwhile, Lucy gets an opportunity to sing with a band and asks Lee to play the guitar for her. In the process, Lee discovers he may have a talent for music, but as the big gig approaches, he is forced to choose between his role in the play and Lucy's band.
