Ep 2. Shot Through the Heart

In "Shot Through the Heart," the second episode of the third season of Oddities, the employees of Obscura Antiques & Oddities continue to bring in some of the weirdest and rarest objects imaginable.

The episode begins with Mike, the store's resident taxidermist, working on a project involving a three-headed snapping turtle. Meanwhile, Evan and Ryan acquire a heart-shaped silicone mold previously used by an embalmer to make heart-shaped ornaments out of "human remnants."

Meanwhile, the owner of a Brooklyn tattoo parlor is searching for unusual medical objects to add to his collection, and he visits Obscura to see if they have anything he's interested in. This leads to a very interesting interaction with Ryan, who is himself covered in tattoos and thus takes a personal interest in the man's business.

Next up, the store purchases a collection of items from a widow whose husband collected medical antiques. Among these items is a decaying cat skeleton, surgical tools used to perform eye surgeries, and even an EKG machine. This proves to be an extremely profitable purchase for the store, as they are able to sell almost everything they acquired for a large profit.

The Obscura staff then meets with a young woman who has some mysterious items she wants to sell. When they arrive, however, they are unhappy to discover that the items are actually mass-produced trinkets. The woman protests that they are "odd," but the employees of Obscura refuse to buy them.

Later in the episode, Ryan meets with an art collector interested in purchasing a preserved kangaroo paw from the store. The paw is encased in a glass jar and is believed to possess mystical powers. Ryan is interested in making a sale, but he's also nervous about giving up such an unusual item. In the end, however, he decides to go through with the sale.

The episode ends with Mike announcing that he's going to be creating a very special project involving a chicken that was hatched inside of another chicken. The project promises to be one of the strangest and most interesting yet.

Throughout "Shot Through the Heart," viewers are treated to the same quirky and fascinating objects and personalities that have made Oddities such a beloved show for fans of the unusual and macabre. With each episode, the staff of Obscura continues to demonstrate their deep love and appreciation for the bizarre, and their willingness to go to great lengths to acquire the strangest artifacts imaginable.
