Watch Deadliest Catch

Deadliest Catch is an action packed reality show highlighting the crab fishing industry in and around Dutch Harbor, Alaska. It was first released on April 12, 2005 by the Discovery Channel and has been a popular hit for the last eight seasons. Deadliest Catch follows a variety of fishing vessels, including the Northwestern, the Time Bandit, the Wizard, the Kodiak, the Seabrooke, and the Ramblin' Rose. It captures daily life of crew members aboard a crab fishing boat and the challenges they face during rough weather that has made the Bering Sea famous.

Deadliest Catch highlights each fishing captain and his relationship with his crew. Some fishing vessels are owned and operated by close family members, while others are operated by hired captains. The vessels primarily fish for crab during king crab season and opilio crab season. A few episodes highlight fishing for elusive blue crab and cod fish that is used for bait during the crabbing season.

Various fishing vessels have met an untimely fate on Deadliest Catch. The show occasionally features footage from the United States Coast Guard rescue teams as they rush to the aid of foundering ships. They also respond to medical emergencies or crew members who have gone overboard and who have not been able to be rescued.

Deadliest Catch was been the recipient four Primetime Emmy Awards during the 2007 season. It has consistently drawn high ratings during its time slot each season and the episode featuring the death of Captain Phil Harris drew a record 8.5 million viewers.
