River Monsters is a Nature Documentary Series starring and narrated by Jeremy Wade. The series was created by Icon Films, a British film company. River Monsters can be seen regularly on Animal Planet, but has also been featured on the Discovery Channel. River Monsters depicts Jeremy Wade, a fish expert and biologist, who travels the world in search of rare and legendary sea creatures. Wade's objective throughout the series is to learn about and understand local sea legend. Once Wade has soaked up local folklore and angler culture, he boards his boat and sets out in search of these infamous fish. Wade searches native waters and attempts to prove or disprove the existence of these local water oddities. Audiences watch Wade as he experiences both successful and failed capture attempts. This documentary series travels with Wade through his mistakes, and shows how he persistently tries again and again discovering new ways to lure these rare monster fish. Each episode focuses on Wade, searching to uncover the mystery of a specific type of sea creature. Whether Wade is focused on giant piranha, alligator gar, or bull sharks, Wade tracks these great creatures down in order to better understand their habits. Wade studies the eating, mating, and other natural habits of river monsters. He studies these water rarities and learns about the characteristics which make them so hard to find in open water. Wade brings his findings and research to local fishermen, educating them on the existence of their local legends, and showing them proof that river monsters truly do exist!
