In todays world, it can be hard to believe that anyone is still out whaling, a practice that has been strictly regulated by different countries for many years. The damage done to whales and their environments in the past is a difficult problem to fix, but this hasn't stopped many fishing vessels from attempting to whale illegally. The only thing standing between these ships and the whales they're attempting to catch is Paul Watson and his crew of devote environmentalists, the stars of the Animal Planet show "Whale Wars." The founder of the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society, Paul and his team of experts use a fleet of advanced ships to help in their fight against the illegal whalers. Using different tactics, from throwing stink bombs onto other ships, to boarding the actual ships themselves, the team works to harass these whalers until they have no choice but to give up whaling and return to port, before killing any whales. Often times, the whalers refuse to back down, going as far as attempting to ram the Sea Shepherd's ships, as well as even taking members who board hostage. The members of the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society know the risks they take, but also know the importance of what they're attempting to do, giving them no choice but to attempt and stop the whalers at all costs. The Sea Shepherds and their use of extreme measures to save the whales make for a highly entertaining show, with the members quite literally risking their lives on open waters to save the animals they believe in protecting. Their dangerous missions and interesting technology make for a great watch, leaving audiences wondering just how far these souls will go to thwart the whalers they so greatly despise.
