On The Job is a Philippines crime thriller television series, which premiered on 12th September 2021 and is currently streaming on HBO Max. The show is a premium action drama which is based on the award-winning film of the same name. The series features an ensemble cast including some of the most respected film actors in the Philippines such as Leo Martinez, Joel Torre, and Piolo Pascual.

The story of On The Job takes place in the Philippines where corrupt politicians and businessmen use prisoners as hitmen to carry out their dirty work. The twist in the tale is that these prisoners are temporarily released to commit the assassination and then go back to their prison cells as if nothing happened. The show portrays the harsh realities of the Philippine's political system, the illegal drug trade, and the prison system in the country.

The series follows two main storylines. The first storyline focuses on a seasoned journalist named Sisoy Salas (played by John Arcilla) who is investigating the hitmen-for-hire syndicate. Sisoy is a dedicated journalist who pursues the truth no matter the cost. He is determined to uncover the masterminds that are behind the crime wave that has gripped his country. He is joined in his investigation by the show's three main characters – Mario (played by Joel Torre), Daniel (played by Gerald Anderson), and Roman (played by Piolo Pascual).

Mario is an ex-convict who was imprisoned for a crime that he didn't commit. He and his son, Daniel, were once unsuspected hitmen for a corrupt politician, Dante Corpuz (played by Joey Marquez). However, when Daniel got caught in one of their operations, Mario decided to turn himself in to the police in exchange for his son's freedom. Now, Mario is released from prison once a week to serve as a hitman for Corpuz. But unbeknownst to his boss, he is collaborating with Sisoy and his team to take Corpuz down.

Roman, on the other hand, is a newly elected congressman who belongs to a prominent and wealthy family. He is a principled man who is trying to change the system from within. He is appointed as the Chairman of the Committee on Justice and Human Rights, where he plans to investigate the hitmen-for-hire syndicate. However, his political opponents are wary of his intentions and will go to any lengths to stop him from revealing the truth.

The second storyline focuses on a different set of characters, Tatang (played by Leo Martinez) and Philip (played by Dennis Trillo), who are also hitmen for hire. Tatang and Philip are masterminded by a wealthy businessman, Bernie Go (played by Michael de Mesa), to assassinate his political opponents. The twist in their story is that they are both cops who were tasked to go undercover in the syndicate to expose their criminal activities. However, as the lines between good and evil start to blur, they are forced to make tough decisions that will determine their fate.

On The Job is a well-crafted series that combines the best elements of action, drama, and suspense. It boasts of a strong cast led by some of the Philippines' most distinguished film actors. The show's intense action scenes and expertly crafted twists and turns will keep audiences on the edge of their seats throughout its 12-episode run.

Overall, On The Job is a must-watch for fans of crime thrillers and action-packed dramas. It provides an unflinching look at the dark side of Philippine politics, the drug trade, and the prison system. The show's engaging plot, powerful performances, and stunning cinematography make it one of the most talked-about television series to come out of the Philippines in recent years.
