Ep 2. Like a Power

In Powers season 1 episode 2, titled "Like a Power," the story resumes six months after the events of the pilot episode. Detective Christian Walker (Sharlto Copley) is still trying to adjust to his life without powers, while his partner Deena Pilgrim (Susan Heyward) is still recovering from her own traumatic experience.

They have to deal with corrupt cops who are on the payroll of the club's owner and also the fact that some of the people using Sway have become addicted and are willing to do anything to keep their powers.

The episode does a great job of exploring the consequences of having powers and how some people will do anything to regain that feeling of power and control. It also raises questions about the nature of power and whether it's better to have it or not.

One of the standout moments of the episode is when Pilgrim confronts a woman who's addicted to Sway. The woman's powers have caused her to lose her job and her family, and Pilgrim tries to convince her that there's more to life than having powers. The scene is a great showcase for Heyward's acting skills, and it reinforces the idea that with great power comes great responsibility.

The episode also introduces some new characters, including a journalist named Calista (Olesya Rulin) who's investigating the origins of Sway and Wolfe's connection to it. Calista is a great addition to the show, and her storyline adds an extra layer of intrigue and mystery to the proceedings.

Overall, "Like a Power" is a strong episode that builds on the events of the pilot and expands the world of Powers in interesting ways. It's a darker and more complex episode than the first, and it raises the stakes for Walker and Pilgrim as they try to take down Wolfe and stop the spread of Sway.
