Reeling from a disappointing director's screening, producers have just five days to convince Meko to implement sweeping changes to the film's final cut. While promoting Project Greenlight, Meko gets some much-needed advice from her mentors. Months later, Meko attends the premiere of her first feature film -- and reflects on the journey of a lifetime.

As shooting on Gray Matter comes to an end, studio executives attempt to carve out a temporary peace between the film and television crews. After wrapping production, Meko and her editor Byron are given just 10 weeks to assemble 18 days of footage into a fully-fledged film, but a last-minute health scare stands between Meko and the finish line.

Gray Matter's shooting schedule begins to take a toll on the cast and crew while wreaking havoc on the film's tight budget. Despite both teams' best efforts, Meko and her assistant director deal with the frustrations of shooting a feature and a docuseries at the same time.

As shooting begins, setbacks lead to rising animosity between the film crew and the Project Greenlight team. Meanwhile, a serious discussion leads to a potential breakthrough, and the film's young star begins to feel the effects of an intense schedule.

When a lackluster table read leaves studio executives with doubts, the development team has a heart-to-heart with their director. Later, Meko prepares to pitch her vision for Gray Matter, a meeting which could make or break the feature -- and her career.

After finally settling on a lead, Meko breathes a sigh of relief until a surprise resignation threatens to derail shooting. Later, Meko faces an important meeting with studio executives -- but will she be able to rise to the challenge?

In an effort to speed up the writing process, Issa's team brings in a group of script consultants to pitch potential fixes. Then, after clashing over casting, Meko finds herself fighting for her choice for the film's lead.

While Meko continues to stall on the script, a last-minute staffing change throws a wrench in production. After a successful location scouting session, the development team works with Meko on the writing process.

With just seven weeks until the start of filming, Meko turns to the mentors for advice before diving into the script, while simultaneously working on hiring an all-star crew. Later, Meko finds herself torn between two talented production designers.

In their quest to find Hollywood's next great talent, Issa Rae, Kumail Nanjiani, and Gina Prince-Bythewood pore over thousands of submissions before choosing ten up-and-coming female filmmakers for a shot at directing their first feature. Tasked with putting their own unique spin on a scene from Project Greenlight's most recent feature, the directors throw the competition for a loop with their abilities to work under tight deadlines and budget constraints.
