For several seasons now, "Punk'd" has been entertaining audiences around the world as Ashton Kutcher instigates the rich and famous with outrageous and strange scenarios. Viewers can tune in to see their favorite movie star or athlete get put on the spot in the most bizarre circumstances.
Ashton Kutcher is the star of the show, orchestrating the various fake plots that take his famous victims for a loop. One segment might include the priceless reaction on Britney Spear's face after she apparently bumped into another car when backing out of a parking lot. Another episode might follow Matthew Perry as he looks into buying a new car at a very elite warehouse, only to become half hysterical when he notices that it has been suddenly invaded by a squad of police cars in a sting operation.
The show reveals that celebrities are human also and they experience the same emotions as any of us would if placed in the same predicament. The most entertaining aspect of the show is watching celebrities squirm, blush, and get frustrated when facing intense but very plausible scenarios. Their reactions jump from confused and angry to relieved as they see Ashton emerge from behind the scenes to tell them that they've been "punk'd".
Throughout the show, viewers can also follow Ashton's lead behind the scenes in the preparation and follow-through of each unique segment. Walkie-talkies, ear phones, and other modern mediums allow Ashton to easily communicate with paid actors, stand-ins, and even friends of the celebrity to pull off each prank. Throughout the segment, Ashton is giving each participant feedback and advice on how to "spice" it up and create excitement.
Because of its upbeat and hip persona, the show attracts a lot of young viewers in the 18 to 34 age range. The show can be seen on MTV in various time slots and is a half-hour long.
"Punk'd" allows viewers to see a more vulnerable side to their favorite celebrities and is definitely a testament to Ashton's creativity and originality, as no other show has been able to pull something like this off on such a large scale before. Whether you've had a bad day or just in an off mood, a healthy dose of "Punk'd" will surely put you in jovial spirits.
