As the fourth member of the Artemis Hunt arrives, Seth discovers the potential dangers in the land where the hunters and the Inquisitors coexist. In "A Paradise of Wisdom and Hope -Artemis-" of Radiant Season 1 Episode 5, Seth goes through a brief geography of the place where they are heading, the Artemis Island, and learns that it is mostly unexplored and a place of cursed magic.
The episode starts with Seth still skeptical about the intentions of the Artemis Hunt. When Yaga assures him that they came to the Artemis Island to prevent the spread of a disease that turned people into monsters, Seth is relieved. The two hunters, obsessed with defeating "The Nemesis," accompany Seth in his quest to find Radiant. Their ship reaches Artemis Island, and Boudica, the fourth member of the hunt, joins them. Seth accompanies her to a cave where they discover that the island is alive. Basilisks, stone snakes with healing powers, guide them, and they find a large hall in the cave where they discuss the reason behind their trip.
Boudica confides that the Artemis Hunt only carries bullets made of Artemis' blood, and she tells Seth that the true division in that land is between the Inquisitors and the Domitors. The Artemis Island is one of the places where the Inquisitors sent their prisoners, who then created a primitive society. They entered the age of intelligence only after the arrival of the Artemis' blood using Domitors. The Domitors have advanced machines, including airships, that make them superior. The Inquisitors look up to a mythical group called the Artic Gale. The Domitors consider these stories as rubbish, but little does anyone know, The Artic Gale is real.
As Seth and the others leave the cave, they sense some danger. Yaga recognizes the smell of Amon's minions, the nemesis that Seth was once a part of. They come face to face with some of the monsters that appeared to have evolved, and Yaga realizes that they are the prisoners of Inquisitor who somehow have absorbed the Nemesis' power. They need to get rid of these criminals before reaching the Royal Capital. The group splits into two, and while Boudica and Doc counterattack the prisoners, Seth and Yaga sneak to the Domitors' side. They find themselves in an unusual predicament, and whilst trying to escape, they see soldiers being attacked in the streets. Seth then realizes that the prisoners have already reached the capital and are working with Aruru, the Queen.
As the episode proceeds, Seth and the gang get deeper into some major conflicts, including politics and war. With Boudica's help, they infiltrate the royal palace, only to find themselves captured. They get a first real taste of their enemy's power when they come face to face with Gil who possesses the power of nemesis from Artemis Island. The events that follow include a lot of battles and shocking revelations, but one thing is for sure that the team now has a clear insight into the dangers of the Artemis Island.
"A Paradise of Wisdom and Hope -Artemis-" is an excellently executed episode that portrays the gravity of conflict in Seth's world. The episode not only gives a detailed introduction to Artemis Island and Seth's companions but also answers some of the unanswered questions that the fans had about Seth's nemesis, the Inquisitors, and domestic politics in the land of Radiant. The plot is well-thought-out, and there are several twists and turns that make it an engaging watch. The exhibition of the power of nemesis and the conflict they cause has been gorgeously animated and keeps the audience on the edge of their seat. Overall, this episode of Radiant is undoubtedly a must-watch for fans of the show.
