Inuyasha is a fantasy anime, or Japanese animated show. It was based off of a very popular manga, or Japanese comic, which was created by one of Japan's most famous modern comic artists, Rumiko Takahashi. The show follows the story of Kagome, a girl from modern times who accidentally falls into the well in her family's shrine. When she wakes up, Kagome finds that the well has transported her back into the feudal era of Japan. In the feudal era, Kagome discovers that beasts called demons still roam the earth. Some are evil, while other demons are much kinder. She befriends a half demon named Inuyasha, who was betrayed in the past by an evil demon, named Naraku, and sealed to a tree. After he wakes up from his magical sleep, Inuyasha and Kagome discover that Kagome is the reincarnation of a priestess Inuyasha once knew. She is also in possession of the Shikon Jewel, a gem that has the power to grant wishes or make demons stronger. Unfortunately, after an accident, the jewel is broken into hundreds of shards and scattered across Japan. It is quickly decided that Inuyasha and Kagome must hunt down every single shard of the jewel, in order to protect the innocent people from attacks by demons that are using jewel shards to strengthen their powers. As they journey across the country, Kagome and Inuyasha learn more about each other and become closer. The pair also meets up with other demons and people who begin to travel with them and help them in their quest. As the team finds more and more shards, they must also battle more demons. Eventually, Inuyasha and his friends realize that the demon Naraku, who betrayed Inuyasha, is still wreaking havoc wherever he goes. Naraku is also collecting jewel shards, and the group realizes that their ultimate goal must be beating Naraku if they want to free the world of his evil and collect all the shards of the jewel.
