Ep 13. A Germ of a Story

The show Raising Hope season 1 episode 13, titled "A Germ of a Story," follows the outrageous and quirky family of the Chance's as they navigate their daily lives with a baby that was unexpectedly left in their care. In this episode, the family's youngest member, Hope, falls ill with a mysterious illness, and everyone scrambles to figure out what is wrong.

As the family tries to figure out what has made Hope sick, they begin to investigate all of the possible causes. The mom, Virginia, thinks it may be due to her lack of cleanliness, while her husband, Burt, thinks it may be due to the baby's diet. Meanwhile, Lucy, the family's grandmother, is convinced that they are dealing with a rare disease that can only be cured by medicine that is not available in their area.

Throughout the episode, the family members all have their own separate storylines that ultimately overlap and connect. Virginia's sister, Delilah, comes to visit and begins to stir up trouble with her presence. Meanwhile, Burt tries to navigate his relationship with his boss, who is a germaphobe, while being sick himself.

As they all investigate the cause of Hope's illness, they begin to discover some underlying secrets about each other. Virginia's lack of cleanliness is revealed to stem from a traumatic event in her past, and Burt's overprotectiveness of the baby is revealed to be because of his own regrets as a parent.

Despite their differences and wacky personalities, the family comes together to solve the mystery and save Hope. Through their trials and tribulations, they learn to appreciate each other and the bonds that they share. By the end of the episode, they have come out stronger and more united than ever before.
