In the fifth episode of season 1 of Rogue, named Hawala, we see the main character Grace Travis, played by Thandie Newton, continuing her mission to investigate her son's murder and find out the truth behind his death.
As the episode begins, we see Grace's investigation take a turn for the worse when she is captured by a group of men who are connected to her son's murder. She is taken to a hidden location where she is beaten and tortured in an attempt to get her to reveal what she knows about the people who killed her son. Despite the physical pain she is suffering, Grace refuses to give in to their demands and manages to escape, only to find herself even more determined to find her son's killer.
Back in Oakland, Grace meets up with her partner, Jimmy Laszlo, played by Cole Hauser, and they start investigating a new lead in the case. They discover that a man named Khalid, who is involved in a money transfer network called "Hawala," has been receiving large sums of money from one of the men they suspect is involved in the killing. This leads them to believe that Khalid may know more than he is letting on about the people who are responsible for the murder.
Grace and Jimmy then decide to approach Khalid and try to get him to cooperate with their investigation. They find him at a local club and manage to convince him to talk by telling him that they can protect him from the people who are trying to harm him. Khalid reveals that the man they suspect of killing Grace's son is a notorious drug dealer, who is involved in several illegal activities. He also gives them a name of one of his associates who may have information about the murder.
As they follow up on the lead, Grace and Jimmy soon discover that they are not the only ones interested in finding out the truth about the murder. They run into a group of men who are looking for the same information and who are not afraid to use force. A violent confrontation ensues, and Grace is once again forced to use her skills to defend herself.
At the same time, Grace's personal life is becoming more complicated. Her ex-husband is becoming increasingly suspicious of her activities, and Grace is struggling to keep up the facade of being a single mother while also continuing her investigation. She also starts to question her own motives for pursuing the case and wonders if she is putting herself and her family in danger.
As the episode ends, Grace and Jimmy are left with more questions than answers as they continue to investigate the murder. They are determined to find out the truth, but they know that the path ahead will be dangerous and uncertain.
Overall, this episode of Rogue is a tense and action-packed addition to the series, with strong performances from the cast and a compelling storyline. It leaves audiences on the edge of their seats and eager to see what will happen next in Grace's quest for justice.
