Ep 2. Secrets & Silent Killers

After the events of the season two premiere, Rosewood is back in full swing in this week's episode titled "Secrets & Silent Killers." The chapter revolves around Rosewood and Villa as they work to uncover the truth behind a man's death amidst a missing artifact from a museum.

The episode kicks off with Villa bringing Pippy to the scene of an art museum robbery gone wrong. The exhibit, which Pippy's friend Lillian is the curator of, was robbed, and one man was found dead among the chaos. As they begin to gather information, Rosewood and Villa learn the victim was a journalist investigating the whereabouts of a valuable artifact that was being stored in the museum. The team realizes that the case may have more layers than they thought.

On top of the intrigue surrounding the museum robbery, Rosewood is dealing with some internal turmoil of his own. He's started using his heart medication again even though he's back to normal. He's hiding it from Villa, but there's something about that inner conflict that feels unresolved. Meanwhile, Lillian and Pippy clash as they discuss the robbery and the loss of a valuable necklace from the collection that was connected to Lillian's family history. The team tries to approach the case, but with all of the secrets and underlying emotions, it seems like everyone has something they want to keep hidden.

The episodes weave their way between the investigation into the deadly museum robbery and the personal events taking place in both Villa's and Rosewood's lives. Villa, who's still trying to deal with the aftermath of her husband being back in town, has some important personal choices to make. Meanwhile, Rosewood is grappling with his legacy and how he will be remembered. Together, the two attempt to solve the case without completely falling apart in the process.

As the investigation ropes in new players, Rosewood and Villa begin to connect the dots. In the end, it's discovered that the victim, the journalist, was investigating the wealthy family of the curator for their involvement in the theft. The supposed robbery, however, was clearly a cover-up and all about retrieving that incredibly valuable necklace with it. This discovery uncovers a web of family secrets and deceptions that went deeper than anyone could have imagined.

"Secrets & Silent Killers" is a telling episode in that it reveals a lot of Rosewood's character traits and provides some insight into his motivations. The subtle themes of legacy and the desire to be remembered are indicative of how Torment can shape a person. And Villa, while still troubled by her relationship with Eddie, stands strong and resolute to see the case through to the end.

The many moving parts in this installment of Rosewood thread together neatly, and while there are a few moments of predictability, the overall outcome is still satisfying to watch unfold. The series is clearly diving headfirst into its sophomore season and it's poised to explore much more depth as the weeks go on.
