Samantha Who? is a comedy television series that follows the life of Samantha Newly, played by Christina Applegate. Samantha is a fun-loving party girl who loses her memory in a hit-and-run accident. She wakes up from a coma with no recollection of her past life. As she tries to piece together her memories and discover who she was before the accident, she realizes that she wasn't living the life she wanted and tries to make positive changes to become a better person.

The first episode of the show, titled "Pilot," begins with Samantha's parents and best friend, Andrea (Jennifer Esposito), visiting her in the hospital. Samantha is confused and disoriented, unable to remember anything about herself or her life. Her ex-boyfriend, Todd (Barry Watson), comes to visit her and she is surprised to learn that they were in a serious relationship before the accident.

As Samantha leaves the hospital and returns home with her parents, she begins to notice that everyone she interacts with has a negative opinion of her. Her father, Howard (Kevin Dunn), seems disappointed in her, while her mother, Regina (Jean Smart), is overly critical. She runs into an old friend, Dena (Melissa McCarthy), who reveals that Samantha was a mean girl in high school and that everyone disliked her.

Feeling overwhelmed and alone, Samantha turns to Andrea for support. Andrea takes Samantha out for a night on the town, hoping that it will trigger some memories. As they party and drink, Samantha begins to behave in her old, selfish ways. She flirts with a stranger and steals someone's cab, causing Andrea to become frustrated with her. She realizes that she no longer wants to be the old Samantha and decides to make some changes in her life.

Throughout the episode, Samantha is plagued by her lack of memory and the realization that she was not a good person before the accident. She struggles to come to terms with her past behavior and how it has affected the people around her. Despite this, Samantha also shows determination and a desire to improve herself, even if it means starting from scratch.

The pilot episode of Samantha Who? is a lighthearted and humorous introduction to the series. Christina Applegate shines in the lead role, perfectly capturing both Samantha's confusion and her determination. The supporting cast is also strong, with standout performances from Jennifer Esposito and Jean Smart. The episode sets up an interesting premise for the series, and leaves the audience wanting to know more about Samantha's journey of self-discovery.
