Carrie, Miranda, Samantha, and Charlotte take on one of the most challenging conversations of their decade-long friendship: discussing their political beliefs. Carrie starts the episode off by attending a political fundraiser with new fling, Bill Kelley. One of Kelley's friends confronts her about her lack of interest in politics, and Carrie realizes that her ignorance might just be a major problem. She sets out to learn more, but with so much information and so many opinions out there, it's difficult to know where to start.

Meanwhile, Miranda is having a political awakening of her own. She meets a handsome guy named Jack who challenges her to broaden her worldview and think outside of the bubble of her comfortable Manhattan life. When she starts attending political rallies with him, she finally feels like she's part of something bigger than herself. But as they get to know each other better, they begin to realize that their beliefs might not be as compatible as they thought.

Samantha, as usual, sees everything through a sexual lens. When she starts dating a politician named Richard, she's more interested in the tabloid gossip and scandal of his profession than his actual policies. But as she gets more involved in his world, she starts to see the importance of the work he's doing and the struggles he's facing as a public figure.

Charlotte, the most conservative of the group, struggles the most with the political discussions. She feels alienated from her friends who have vastly different beliefs than she does, and is unsure if she's willing to compromise her own values for the sake of their friendship. When she meets a man named Wylie who shares her political leanings, she feels like she's finally found someone she can connect with. But as they get to know each other better, they discover that they might not be as similar as they thought.

The episode is a thoughtful exploration of the challenges and rewards of engaging with politics, both as individuals and within a group of friends. It doesn't shy away from the complicated and often frustrating aspects of political discourse, but ultimately shows that a willingness to listen, learn, and compromise is key to forging meaningful connections and making a difference in the world.
