Ep 2. Safe

After assuming his brother's identity, Marius makes an attempt to engage with his estranged family. In this episode, Marius poses as his brother Pete and heads to the family farm in Connecticut to seek refuge from the criminals that he has cheated. While there, he meets his "grandparents"—their grandmother Audrey and grandfather Otto, and reconnects with his cousin Julia and aunt and uncles. But he realizes almost immediately that they seem to be the only normal people in his brother's criminal past.

As Marius tries to avoid being caught by the dangerous Vince, he makes arrangements to get the money he owes from the unsuspecting Taylor family in order to flee to Canada with a whole new identity. Unsurprisingly, things don't go as he planned--he's discovered by a street-smart detective named Winslow (Laverne Cox from Orange Is the New Black). While under Winslow's watchful eye, Marius makes devious moves behind his back, including stealing some of his personal effects and inserting himself back into the Taylor family when the opportunity arises.

Meanwhile, Otto's health is rapidly deteriorating, which puts the family's future at stake. Julia feels that they could use Pete's help and appeals to Marius - as Pete - for assistance with their financial problems. Interestingly, Marius' quick wit and street smarts prove to come in handy as he devises a plan that will help Otto regain his health in exchange for more time at the farm, but it remains to be seen if it's enough.

Pete's former accomplices, including the vicious Vince and Carly, aren't far behind Marius, and the suspenseful chase begins. But as he gets closer to getting the money he needs, Marius realizes that he's been walking a fine line, at risk of being caught or double-crossed from all sides.

Overall, Sneaky Pete's season 1, episode 2 Safe is a suspenseful thriller that offers more twists and turns than expected. It moves the storyline forward for all the characters, while introducing us to new ones that continue to add depth to the plot. Viewers will enjoy the tension, the artful plotting, and the masterful storytelling that shines through in the episode.
