Ep 4. Without Their Maker

Layton (Daveed Diggs) is trying to adjust to his new role as the train's detective, while also trying to figure out a way to gather information from the tailies without arousing suspicion. Till (Mickey Sumner) continues to search for clues about the murder of one of the train's passengers, while also dealing with her own personal demons. Throughout "Without Their Maker," we see the various factions on the train vying for power and control. Melanie is forced to make a difficult decision about the malfunctioning door, while she also tries to maintain her position as the train's leader. The tailies are beginning to realize the extent of their oppression and are determined to fight back, even if it means risking their lives. And in the first-class section, we see the wealthy passengers becoming increasingly insulated from the world outside, using their wealth and privilege to secure their position of power. Overall, "Snowpiercer" season 1 episode 4 is a tense and gripping installment, as we see the fragile ecosystem of the train begin to unravel. The characters are all struggling to survive, in their own ways, and the episode raises important questions about power, privilege, and inequality. With stellar performances from the entire cast, and expertly crafted writing and direction, this episode is sure to leave viewers on the edge of their seats.
