Soul Quest Overdrive is an American animated television series created by Michael J. Panetta and Ryan Lohner. The show originally premiered on Adult Swim on June 25th, 2011, and ran for a total of six episodes before being cancelled. The series follows a group of four musicians: Johnny Tambourine (voiced by H. Jon Benjamin), Dutch (voiced by David Cross), the Guitarist (voiced by Kristen Schaal), and the Drummer (voiced by Eugene Mirman). The four of them form a band called "Soul Quest Overdrive" and embark on a wild and crazy adventure to find the Lost Cord, a mystical guitar chord that will unlock the secrets of the universe.

The show is a psychedelic trip through a world that is heavily influenced by classic rock and roll culture. The band members are each caricatures of different rock star archetypes: Johnny Tambourine is the egotistical frontman, Dutch is the loopy hippie, the Guitarist is the cold and calculating virtuoso, and the Drummer is the clueless but lovable comic relief.

Throughout the series, the band members encounter a variety of strange and bizarre characters, including a giant hippo that can teleport, a group of alien musicians, and a demonic record producer. Along the way, they must overcome a series of challenges and obstacles, all while being pursued by their nemesis, the evil Baron Klaus Von Hohenlohe (voiced by Ron Lynch).

One of the most memorable aspects of Soul Quest Overdrive is its unique animation style. The show employs a blend of traditional hand-drawn animation and stop-motion animation, which gives it a distinct and trippy feel. The colors are bright and vivid, and the character designs are heavily influenced by classic rock and roll iconography.

The humor of the show is irreverent and absurd, with a lot of the comedy coming from the band members' interactions with each other and the bizarre situations they find themselves in. H. Jon Benjamin, David Cross, Kristen Schaal, and Eugene Mirman all bring their signature brand of comedic timing to the show, and the result is a hilarious and surreal experience.

Despite its short run, Soul Quest Overdrive developed a cult following among fans of Adult Swim and is often cited as one of the most underrated shows on the network. Its unique blend of animation, humor, and classic rock and roll references make it a standout in the world of animated television.

Overall, if you're a fan of classic rock and roll, trippy animation, or just absurd comedy, Soul Quest Overdrive is definitely worth checking out. It may have been short-lived, but its impact on the world of adult animation is undeniable.
