In season 2 episode 15 of Splitting Up Together, titled "The Pump Station," Lena (Jenna Fischer) deals with the aftermath of a major decision as her relationship with Martin (Oliver Hudson) becomes more complicated than ever before. Meanwhile, Martin's mother (guest star Wendie Malick) comes to town and shakes things up in unexpected ways.

Lena has always been the more practical one in her relationship with Martin, but lately their dynamic has shifted. Whereas Martin used to be the impulsive one, he is now embracing a more structured way of life, and Lena is having trouble adjusting. She decides to take a big step in her own life and in their relationship, but it causes Martin to question everything they've built together thus far.

As Lena tries to navigate this new territory, her mother-in-law, Camille, arrives in town and immediately stirs up trouble. Camille is used to getting what she wants, when she wants it, and she has trouble accepting that Martin and Lena are now living separate lives. She inserts herself into their personal affairs and ends up causing more harm than good.

Meanwhile, at the pump station, Mae (Olivia Keville) and her friend, Mason (guest star Trent Garrett), are trying to make a music video for their school project. Mae is taking it very seriously, but Mason is more interested in having fun than doing good work. As they argue over the direction of their project, Mae realizes that she needs to be a stronger leader if she wants to succeed.

As the episode progresses, Lena and Martin continue to grapple with the consequences of Lena's decision, and Camille's interference is adding fuel to the fire. Can Martin and Lena find a way to compromise and move forward, or will Camille's meddling push them further apart?
