Still Open All Hours is a British sitcom, which revives the popular series Open All Hours, which ran from 1973 to 1985. The revival series was created and written by Roy Clarke and premiered on the BBC in 2013. The show stars David Jason as Granville, who now runs the corner shop, inherited from his late Uncle Arkwright.

Season 1 of Still Open All Hours comprises six episodes, and the first episode sets the tone for the revival series. Episode 1 is mainly about Granville, who now runs the shop and still finds himself caught in the situations that the original series was famous for.

The episode opens with a shot of the familiar Yorkshire street where the corner shop is located, and the sound of Granville's voice-over as he laments the passing of his Uncle Arkwright. The camera then moves to the shop's interior, where Granville is busy trying to sell old merchandise, including hairnets and girdles. It's immediately clear that Granville hasn't really changed much from his uncle, as he employs similar tactics to Arkwright, such as pricing goods at different prices for individual customers.

The main plot of the episode revolves around Granville's attempts to boost sales by introducing a new product, which he hopes will be a hit with the locals. Granville introduces a batch of "snake oil" tonic that he swears can cure anything from baldness to sore backs. The tonic is mixed by Granville and his son Leroy, who is also employed at the shop. Leroy is a charming and confident young man, but his lack of experience and knowledge of the locals means that he often says the wrong thing, which leads to awkward situations.

Throughout the episode, we are introduced to the other characters who frequent the shop. There's Cyril, the cheapskate customer who always tries to get the best deal; Nurse Gladys Emmanuel, the nurse who is a regular customer and a former love interest of Granville's; and Mr. Newbold, the timid customer who is always too afraid to speak up.

As Granville tries to sell the tonic, he encounters several obstacles, including Nurse Gladys, who is skeptical about the tonic's effectiveness and Mr. Newbold, who accidentally ruins the tonic when he takes a sample. Meanwhile, Cyril convinces Granville to give him a discount on the tonic and soon falls victim to its side effects.

The episode is filled with the usual mix of one-liners, double entendres, and slapstick humor that made the original series such a hit. David Jason delivers his lines with impeccable timing, and the rest of the cast is equally impressive in their roles. The chemistry between Granville and Nurse Gladys is still present and adds depth to the show. The episode ends with Granville returning to the shop, relieved that his snake oil tonic has finally sold out.

Overall, Episode 1 of Still Open All Hours is a solid start to the revival series. It captures the spirit of the original series while still managing to feel fresh and relevant. The characters are well-developed, and the humor is both clever and witty. The episode sets the stage for what promises to be a fun and entertaining series.
