Tessa is a 16-year-old girl who moves from the city to the suburbs with her father, George, in search of a better life. In episode 3, "The Chatterer," Tessa is trying to adjust to her new life in the suburbs but finds it difficult as she misses her old way of life. Meanwhile, George is trying to fit in with the other suburban dads, but he struggles to do so as he is not used to their ways.

The episode begins with Tessa receiving a text message from her old friend, Dalia, inviting her to a party. Tessa is excited to go, but her father tells her she can't as she needs to study for her exams. Tessa is frustrated, but agrees to stay in and study.

While studying, Tessa notices that one of her neighbours, Mr. Wolfe, is talking on the phone loudly. Tessa becomes annoyed, but when she confronts him, he tells her that he is hard of hearing and needs to speak louder. Tessa feels bad for getting angry with him and decides to help him by buying him a hearing aid.

Meanwhile, George is trying to fit in with the other suburban dads by joining their group, "The Shays." George is excited to be a part of their group, but he quickly realizes that they are very different from him. They play golf and talk about their lawns, which George finds boring. George decides to try and fit in by buying a golf simulator and hiring a lawn care company, but it fails to impress them.

Tessa goes to the pharmacy to buy Mr. Wolfe a hearing aid but discovers that they are very expensive. Tessa decides to use her knowledge of gadgets to build a homemade hearing aid for Mr. Wolfe. Tessa builds a device out of a cellphone and a toy truck, but it doesn't work, and Mr. Wolfe is still struggling to hear.

George decides to take the dads to a steakhouse to impress them, but it ends up being a disaster. The dads all order the same thing, and George doesn't know what to do. He tries to order something different, but the waiter tells him he can't. The meal ends up being awkward, and the dads make fun of George.

Tessa goes back to the pharmacy and buys a real hearing aid for Mr. Wolfe. She delivers it to him, and he is overjoyed. He can finally hear properly, and he thanks Tessa for her help.

George realizes that he doesn't need to try and fit in with the other suburban dads. He is happy being himself, and he realizes that he needs to stop trying to impress them. The dads start to appreciate George for who he is, and they invite him to join them for a round of mini-golf.

The episode ends with Tessa getting a text message from Dalia apologizing for not inviting her to the party. Tessa realizes that she doesn't need to be a part of that crowd and that she is happy in her new life in the suburbs with her father.

Overall, "The Chatterer" is a heartwarming episode that focuses on the struggle to fit in and be happy in a new environment. Tessa and George both learn valuable lessons about being true to themselves and not trying to change to impress others. The episode is a must-watch for fans of the show and anyone who is struggling to fit in in a new place.
