Tessa, played by Jane Levy, is in her second year of high school and has yet to make any real friends. She is content with spending most of her time alone, listening to music and reading books. However, when her dad, George, played by Jeremy Sisto, moves them from Manhattan to the suburbs, Tessa's world is turned upside down.

Back at home, Tessa and Josh are preparing for their meeting when George arrives with a surprise. He has bought Tessa a new guitar, hoping to show her that he supports her interests. Tessa is touched by the gesture, and the two of them play music together for the first time in a long time.

The episode ends with Tessa and George bonding over their shared love of music, and Tessa thanking her dad for the guitar. Meanwhile, Dalia's team wins the t-ball game, but she doesn't seem very happy about it.
