Ep 1. An Egg-cellent Adventure

In the premiere episode of Supermarket Stakeout, titled "An Egg-cellent Adventure," host Alex Guarnaschelli welcomes four talented chefs to take on the challenge of creating a gourmet dish out of the limited ingredients they are able to purchase from unsuspecting supermarket shoppers.

The chefs are given $500 each and are stationed outside a busy supermarket where they must convince shoppers to sell them items from their grocery carts in order to incorporate the ingredients into their final dishes. However, they only have 30 minutes to make their purchases and 20 minutes to cook their dish before presenting it to the judges.

The first contestant, Chef Aaron, decides to create a breakfast-inspired dish using the eggs he purchased from a shopper, along with bacon and french bread he found inside the store. However, he hits a snag when he realizes the eggs he bought are hard-boiled, forcing him to quickly come up with a new plan.

Next up is Chef Gissele who decides to make a spicy shrimp dish using the seafood she buys from a shopper's cart. She also manages to score some additional items inside the store including peppers and rice. She struggles with the timing of the dish, but ultimately delivers a flavorful creation to the judges.

Chef Naz attempts to make a steak tartare using the ground beef she purchases from a shopper, but encounters difficulty when she realizes the meat has been pre-seasoned with taco seasoning. With little time to make adjustments, she decides to switch to a ground pork meatball dish using just a few ingredients she is able to find inside the store.

Finally, Chef Emily takes on the challenge of creating a vegetarian dish using the limited ingredients available to her. She purchases butternut squash, mushrooms, and spinach from shoppers' carts, and utilizes a few pantry staples from inside the store to create a flavorful and colorful dish that impresses the judges.

After tasting all four dishes, the judges deliberate and decide which chef created the best dish overall. The winner of the challenge is congratulated and moves on to the next round, while one unlucky chef is sent home.

With its fast-paced challenges and high stakes, "An Egg-cellent Adventure" sets the tone for what promises to be an exciting and unpredictable season of Supermarket Stakeout.
