In the eighth episode of the first season of SurrealEstate, titled "Baba O'Riley," the Donovan team moves to a new case of a music teacher and student who have become a victim of a haunting.
In the episode, Luke - acting like the leader of the Donovan team now that his father's in a catatonic state - brings everyone to investigate Simon, a former school music teacher. Simon is now a recluse living in a remote cabin. He has stopped communicating with the outside world after the alleged death of one of his students, Lily, who reportedly committed suicide after being abused by her stepfather.
The new client is an old acquaintance of Simon's and has custody of Lily's step-sister, Grace (played by guest star Kathryn Alexandre). The client suspects that Simon's hiding something about Lily's death and now she and Grace are experiencing strange occurrences at their home. Simon's come to their aid, but the incidents have become increasingly alarming, to the point that Grace has started seeing Lily's ghost and heard strange noises in the house.
The Donovan team quickly discovers that there's more going on than meets the eye. The team has to trace Simon's footsteps before he retreated into seclusion to discover why he's being haunted by Lily's presence. They also have to confront Simon himself as he seems to be hiding something and may have had a hand in Lily's death.
Meanwhile, the team investigates the reasons behind Grace's connection to Lily's ghost. They find out that the ghost of Lily is trying to protect Grace from the malevolent force that killed her. As the team digs deeper, they realize that they may be in over their heads as the events surrounding Lily's death are more complicated than they previously thought.
As the episode progresses, the Donovan team must find a way to unravel the mystery of Lily's death to bring her body and soul to rest. They resolve to help Grace confront the evil force that killed her sister.
