There are no salmon in the river to be found. Wanji and Cinksi, the young wildcat, want to know why, and so they travel through the lands of the renegade wolves... but they get spotted because of Poum, the noisy bear cub. Surrounded by a pack of wolves, their only way out is by jumping into the river. Poum begins to understand that after learning to talk, he must now also learn how to be quiet.
