Team Umizoomi: Umi Knights Season 1 Episode 3 Let's Play Math Dragons!
- December 3, 2012
Team Umizoomi is a hit preschool show that combines action, adventure, and math to spark kids' imaginations and problem-solving skills. In season 1, episode 3, titled "Let's Play Math Dragons!", the Umi Knights, Milli, Geo, and Bot, need to use their math skills to save the day.
The episode opens with the Umi Knights playing a game of catch with their dragon friend, Sparkie. They're having a great time until they notice that all the other dragons in the kingdom aren't playing anymore. In fact, they're all gathering in one place, and it looks like they're upset about something.
The Umi Knights rush over to find out what's going on. They learn that the dragons are upset because they've lost their dragon eggs. Each dragon has laid an egg that contains a special number, and without them, the kingdom's math magic won't work. That means the sun won't rise, the plants won't grow, and things will start to go wrong.
The Umi Knights know they need to help find the dragon eggs, but they're not sure how to start. Luckily, Sparkie gives them a clue. He says that the numbers on the eggs are all related, like in a number pattern. The first egg has the number 6 on it, the second has the number 12, and so on. The Umi Knights realize that this is an arithmetic sequence, and they can use their math skills to figure out the missing numbers and locate the missing eggs.
They start by using their Pattern Power to find the missing numbers in the sequence. They notice that each number is six more than the previous one, so they add six to find the missing numbers. They continue doing this until they've found all the eggs. The last egg is a bit trickier because it has a missing number they need to calculate using Pattern Power. Finally, the Umi Knights have all the eggs and can return them to their rightful owners.
But the Umi Knights' job is far from over. They still need to get the eggs back to the dragons and help them hatch. They know that the dragons need warmth and humidity to hatch, so they use their Measurement Power to create a warm, humid environment for the eggs. They build a special dragon egg incubator, complete with a temperature sensor and a humidifier, and they use it to hatch the eggs.
Now that the eggs have hatched, the Umi Knights need to return them to their rightful owners. They use their Map Power to create a map of the kingdom, showing where each dragon lives. They follow the map and return each egg to the correct dragon. As they do, they notice that the kingdom is starting to come back to life. The sun is starting to rise, the plants are starting to grow, and everything is looking good again.
The episode ends with the Umi Knights celebrating their success. They've saved the kingdom and used their math skills to do it. They know that they can solve any problem as long as they work together and use their Umi Powers.
