Ep 21. Fez Dates Donna

Fez has been wanting a girlfriend for a while now, and in this episode, he finally gets his chance. The unlikely couple of Fez and Donna go on a date together, much to the surprise and amusement of their friends. As the episode begins, Fez is feeling down about being the only one in the group without a girlfriend. When Donna offers to set him up with one of her friends, Fez initially declines. However, after some gentle coaxing from Kelso and Hyde, he decides to give it a shot. Donna and Fez's first date doesn't go quite as smoothly as either of them would have liked. Fez is nervous and does his best to impress Donna, but he keeps putting his foot in his mouth. Donna, for her part, is flattered by Fez's interest in her but can't seem to shake off her initial discomfort at the idea of dating him. Despite their awkwardness, the two end up having a good time together and even share a sweet moment towards the end of the night. Jackie is particularly vocal about her disapproval, warning Donna that she's lowering her standards by going out with "foreign exchange". Meanwhile, Donna worries that her own discomfort around Fez is due to her own internalized biases about dating someone who is not from the same ethnic background as her. Throughout the episode, Fez and Donna's potential relationship is a source of both comedy and genuine empathy. While their friends are quick to make jokes, there are also moments where they show genuine concern for the two of them. Kelso gives Fez some advice on how to win Donna over, while Hyde offers Donna support as she navigates her own feelings. In the end, it's unclear whether or not Donna and Fez will continue to date.
