The Forresters try to track down Bridget, becoming more concerned by the minute. When Brooke hears that Betsy was at the dinner, she insists on calling her despite the late hour. At the emergency room, to doctors work on Bridget while an anguished Deacon waits helplessly. Deacon is told that Bridget is unconscious and is being rushed into surgery. Alone and in tears, Deacon declares how sorry he is. He realizes nobody knows where Bridget is and reaches Brooke at the house. He tells them to come to the hospital right away. At Bridget's bedside, Deacon promises Bridget that if she pulls through, he'll spend the rest of his life making it up to her. Bridget's eyes open a little and she smiles slightly. Just as Deacon swears that she can count on him, Bridget's eyes shut and her heart monitor starts to ring. Deacon watches in horror as the doctor and nurse rush in. Tony offers his condolences to Ellen's parents and brother. He introduces Kristen, and Ellen's mother questions Kristen about her relationship with Tony. Tony senses that there's something Ellen's family isn't telling him. Chad reveals that Ellen had been depressed, but Tony wants to know why, and what drove her to commit suicide. Chad doesn't want to tell him and suggests he speak to Dr. Elderkin, who knows what happened. Tony is mystified when the doctor tells him to stop by the office later.
