Ep 2. Ghost of a Flea

After a young heard of illegal immigrants are found dead in a haunted house in Juarez, Sonya and Marco work together to uncover the truth behind their killers in the second episode of season 2 of The Bridge (2013) titled Ghost of a Flea.

As the story unfolds, one of the victims' sister, Eva, turns to Marco for help and together they try to find answers about who might have committed the crime. Meanwhile, Sonya follows up on a lead in her sister's case and finds herself at a dead end. Though the two seemingly separate investigations come together in a surprising twist that unites the seemingly unrelated events.

As the detectives begin to connect the dots and decipher clues, they uncover a larger network of corruption leading back to the controversial new business and border crossing known as Criollo. The detectives work tirelessly to untangle the web of lies whilst contending with the broken justice system and rampant corruption.

Ghost of a Flea also explores the detectives' personal lives as Sonya tries to come to terms with the recent loss of her sister and the impact it has on her work and emotional stability. On the other hand, Marco struggles with both his ex-wife and adolescent son's desire to move out of the country, and the ethical ramifications of the unlawful operations in which he is involved. Their emotionally charged subplots add depth to the fictional portrayal of their characters and overarching storyline.
