The Chi season 3 episode 3, titled "Buss Down," follows the daily lives of the residents of Chicago's South Side as they navigate through their struggles and aspirations. The episode opens with Kiesha still adjusting to life after her abduction as she thinks about what her future holds. Meanwhile, Jada tries to reach out to Kiesha but gets no response which leaves her worried. Elsewhere, Emmett deals with the fallout of his reckless choices that could cost him his relationships and business.
As Kevin continues to navigate high school, he faces a harsh reality check. He discovers that life can be too real when he realizes that even his closest friends can be disloyal. His decision to take a stand against his peers not only threatens his relationship with them but also puts his own safety on the line. Meanwhile, Ronnie's search for his son reaches a dead-end, leaving him hopeless and unsure of what to do next.
Trig's battle to keep the barbershop afloat continues as he tries to drum up more customers. He resolves to make changes to the shop in a bid to attract more business. His attempts, however, fail to bring in the crowds, leaving him feeling frustrated. The situation becomes dire enough that Tracy suggests they consider unconventional measures if they are going to keep the business open.
Namond continues to impress Douda with his street smarts, which leads him to an invitation to a political rally that could change his future forever. He convinces his mother to attend the event as well, but their experiences are vastly different. While Namond is seduced by Douda's power and status, his mother is troubled by the crowd's quiet acceptance of injustices they face every day. She fears for her son's future and their place in the city, and her hesitation could cause a rift between her and Namond.
As the episode comes to a close, tensions rise between Maisha and Emmett, leading to a confrontation. Meanwhile, Trig discovers that a former acquaintance is behind the missing barbershop clientele, setting things up for an explosive showdown. With everyone's futures on the line, the residents of the Chi face their toughest challenges yet in this season.
