Ep 24. John Krasinski

  • February 6, 2020

On this episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show, host Ellen DeGeneres welcomes actor and filmmaker John Krasinski to the stage. Krasinski is perhaps best known for his role as Jim Halpert on the hit NBC sitcom The Office, but he has also made a name for himself as a writer, director, and producer in recent years.

DeGeneres kicks off the conversation by asking Krasinski about his latest project, a horror movie called A Quiet Place Part II. The film is a sequel to Krasinski's successful 2018 film A Quiet Place, which he wrote, directed, and starred in alongside his real-life wife Emily Blunt. Krasinski explains that the new movie picks up right where the first one left off, and explores more of the post-apocalyptic world where sound-sensitive monsters have wiped out most of humanity.

Despite being a horror movie, Krasinski assures DeGeneres that the film has a lot of heart and emotion to it. He says that it's ultimately a story about a family trying to survive and protect each other, which is something everyone can relate to. Krasinski also reveals that he was initially hesitant to make a sequel, but he ultimately felt like there was more he wanted to explore in this world and with these characters.

DeGeneres then shifts the conversation to Krasinski's personal life, asking him about his daughters Hazel and Violet. Krasinski gushes about how much he loves being a dad, and shares some funny stories about his kids. He talks about how he tries to stay connected with them even when he's working on a movie, and reveals that they often send him voice memos to stay in touch.

Next, DeGeneres surprises Krasinski with a game called "John Krasinski vs. John Krasinski," where he has to answer trivia questions about himself. The questions range from easy ("What is John's favorite color?") to more obscure ("What was John's first acting job?"), and Krasinski proves to be a good sport about it. He even jokes that he's learning a lot about himself.

Later in the show, DeGeneres brings out a surprise guest for Krasinski: his former Office co-star Jenna Fischer. The two actors reminisce about their time on the show, and Fischer shares some behind-the-scenes stories about their famous kiss in the episode "Casual Friday." Krasinski and Fischer also talk about their recent social media feud, where they jokingly fought over the Stanley Cup Finals between their respective hometown teams.

The episode ends with Krasinski thanking DeGeneres and Fischer for having him on the show, and expressing his gratitude for the success he's had in his career. He also encourages viewers to see A Quiet Place Part II in theaters, promising that it will be a thrilling and emotional ride.
