The Ellen DeGeneres Show Season 8 Episode 117 Valerie Bertinelli, Miranda Cosgrove
- March 9, 2011
Valerie Bertinelli, the actress best known for her roles on "One Day at a Time" and "Hot in Cleveland," appears on the season 8 episode 117 of "The Ellen DeGeneres Show," alongside Miranda Cosgrove, the Nickelodeon star who became famous for her role as Carly Shay on "iCarly."
As the episode begins, Ellen welcomes the two actresses to the show, and starts off by asking Valerie about her new cookbook, "Valerie's Home Cooking: More Than 100 Delicious Recipes to Share with Friends and Family." Valerie talks about how the cookbook is a tribute to her family, and describes some of her favorite recipes. She shows off some photos of the dishes she's made, and talks about how cooking is a way for her to connect with her loved ones and create happy memories.
Next, Ellen turns to Miranda, and talks about her recent movie, "Despicable Me 3," in which Miranda plays the voice of Margo. Ellen asks what it's like to do voiceover work, and Miranda talks about how it's different from other acting roles, but still requires a lot of emotional investment. She also talks about her experiences filming "iCarly," and shares some funny stories from the set.
After the interview, Ellen surprises Valerie and Miranda with a game of "Heads Up," where they have to guess the word on a card based on clues from their partner. The game starts off easy, but quickly becomes hilarious as the clues get more obscure and the time runs out. Valerie and Miranda both have a great time, and Ellen seems to be having just as much fun as they are.
In the second half of the show, Ellen welcomes a guest from the audience who has a surprising talent: she can do 20 pushups in a row while balancing a drink on her head. Ellen invites her to show off her skills, and the audience erupts in cheers as the woman successfully completes the feat.
After the pushup challenge, Ellen surprises Valerie and Miranda with a game of "Two Truths and a Lie," where they each have to tell two true stories and one fake story, and the other two have to guess which one is the lie. The game proves to be more difficult than they expected, as each of them is a good liar and a master storyteller. But in the end, the truth comes out, and everyone has a good laugh.
To wrap up the show, Ellen thanks Valerie and Miranda for coming on the show, and reminds everyone to check out Valerie's cookbook and Miranda's movie. She encourages her audience to have fun, laugh, and make happy memories with their loved ones, just like Valerie and Miranda. And with that, the episode ends, leaving viewers feeling entertained and inspired.
