In The Hour season 1 episode 2, titled "Episode 2," tensions continue to rise as the team at The Hour investigates the mysterious death of Ruth Elms, a former secretary to one of the government ministers. Believing they may be onto a big story, Freddie and Bel try to convince the rest of the team to dig deeper into the circumstances surrounding Ruth's death. However, they soon come up against obstacles when it is revealed that Ruth's death may be linked to a top-secret government program.

Meanwhile, Hector's personal life starts to unravel as his affair with Kiki spirals out of control.
