Ep 1. Enrollment Part I

Enrollment Part I is the first episode of the anime series The Irregular at Magic High School season 1. The episode takes place in an alternate world where magic is an integral part of everyday life. In this world, the most prestigious school for magic is the First High School, which is divided into two classes: Course 1 for elite students who have excellent magical abilities and Course 2 for students with inferior abilities.

The main protagonist of the series, Tatsuya Shiba, is one of the students in Course 2. He enrolls in First High School with his younger sister, Miyuki, who is a prodigy in magical abilities and is placed in Course 1. As a result, Tatsuya is often looked down upon by his classmates and considered as an "irregular" due to his lower magic abilities.

The episode begins with Tatsuya and Miyuki traveling on a bus to their new school, First High School. During their ride, they encounter two students from Course 1, Erika and Leon. Erika is a skilled magician, while Leon is a member of the disciplinary committee. The two students belittle Tatsuya and his enrollment in Course 2. Miyuki defends him by using her powerful magic, which intimidates the two students and they quickly leave.

Upon arriving at the school, Tatsuya and Miyuki are greeted by the school's headmaster, who explains the division between courses and gives both siblings their uniforms. They are then directed to the auditorium where the opening ceremony and the student entrance ceremony are held. The entrance ceremony includes a special test where each student's magical power is evaluated using a special device. Miyuki scores the highest in Course 1, while Tatsuya's results prove to be significantly lower than his sister's.

Immediately following the test, Tatsuya is approached by a group of Course 2 students who offer to let him join their team if he proves his worth. Tatsuya, however, declines their offer and decides to explore the school on his own instead. He comes across a group of Course 1 students who are practicing their magic and demonstrates his own unique technique, pleasing the group.

Later, Tatsuya is approached by a girl, Mizuki, who asks him to help her with her magic. They work together and Tatsuya reveals that his own magical abilities are not of the traditional type, but rather advanced and unique. He also demonstrates his ability to analyze and manipulate magical structures, leaving Mizuki impressed and in disbelief.

The episode ends with Tatsuya attending a meeting where he is briefed on the upcoming Magic High School Nine Schools Competition, a yearly competition between the nine top magic schools. Miyuki is selected to participate in the competition, while Tatsuya is tasked with serving as her guardian during the competition.

Enrollment Part I sets the stage for The Irregular at Magic High School series, introducing the world of magic and the division between Course 1 and Course 2 students. It also establishes Tatsuya as a unique and talented character who is often underestimated by his peers. The episode sets up various plot points for future episodes, including the Magic High School Nine Schools Competition, and leaves viewers eager to see what happens next.
