The Late Late Show with James Corden Season 3 Episode 109 5/8/18 (Melissa McCarthy, Chris Parnell, Wallows)
- May 8, 2018
On the 109th episode of the third season of The Late Late Show with James Corden, which originally aired on May 8th, 2018, comedian and actress Melissa McCarthy, actor Chris Parnell, and indie rock band Wallows joined James on the couch for a night of hilarious conversation and musical performances.
Melissa McCarthy, who was known for her roles in popular films like Bridesmaids and Ghostbusters, sat down with James to chat about her latest project, Life of the Party. The two discussed the inspiration behind the film, which McCarthy co-wrote and starred in, as well as the challenges of balancing her busy career with being a mother of two. Of course, no conversation with McCarthy would be complete without a few laughs, and the two delved into some hilarious anecdotes about the time McCarthy accidentally turned her backyard into a petting zoo.
Next up was Chris Parnell, who is probably best known for his work on Saturday Night Live, but has also had a successful career in film and television. Parnell and James discussed his latest project, the animated series Archer, which had just been renewed for another season. They also chatted about Parnell's time on SNL, his love of karaoke, and his recent appearance on RuPaul’s Drag Race.
Wallows, an up-and-coming indie band comprised of three childhood friends, joined James on stage to perform their hit song “Pictures of Girls”. James and the band also discussed their journey from playing music in their garage to performing on national TV, and their upcoming tour.
Of course, no episode of The Late Late Show would be complete without some signature segments. In “Crosswalk the Musical”, James and Melissa McCarthy led a group of enthusiastic pedestrians in a hilarious rendition of the classic musical Hair. Meanwhile, Chris Parnell joined James and his fellow bandmate Reggie Watts for a game of “Spill Your Guts or Fill Your Guts”, where the two were forced to either answer uncomfortable questions or consume disgusting items like bull penis and clam juice.
Overall, the 109th episode of The Late Late Show with James Corden was a fun and entertaining night of conversation and music, showcasing the talents of three very different but equally hilarious guests.
