  • September 19, 2011

As the season premiere of The Price is Right's 28th season, episode 1 brings an exciting showdown between three contestants: Justin Sausville, Glenn Edwards, and Jane Stimpson, all eager to prove their pricing prowess and take home some fantastic prizes.

The show kicks off with host Drew Carey welcoming the audience and introducing the first item up for bid: a pair of diamond earrings valued at $3,035. The bidding starts off fiercely, with all three contestants vying for the coveted prize. Justin comes in with the first bid at $1,750, followed by Glenn's bid of $2,500 and Jane's bid of $2,600. The tension builds as the bidding continues to escalate, with each contestant trying to outdo the others with increasingly higher bids. In the end, Jane proves to be the closest bidder, coming in just $35 higher than the actual retail price and winning the diamond earrings.

The next game up is a classic Price is Right game, "Any Number," which challenges contestants to guess the price of a new car by guessing numbers one digit at a time. Justin steps up to the plate first, nervously calling out each number in the hopes of correctly guessing the car's price before running out of numbers. Glenn and Jane watch intently, waiting for their chance to play as Justin racks up quite a few wrong guesses. Despite his valiant efforts, Justin ultimately falls short and the car goes unclaimed.

The third game of the night is "Spelling Bee," which offers contestants the chance to win a trip to Fiji by correctly spelling out the word "FIJI" using the prices of various items. Jane takes the lead early on, correctly guessing the price of a travel hair dryer and securing the letter "F." Glenn and Justin try their best to catch up, but Jane continues to dominate the game, guessing the prices of a pair of sunglasses and a salad spinner to lock down the letters "I" and "J." In the end, Jane walks away with the trip to Fiji, much to the envy of her competitors.

As the show progresses, Drew Carey keeps the audience entertained with his infectious humor and charm, engaging with the contestants and keeping everyone on their toes. The next game up is "Plinko," one of the most popular games on The Price is Right. Justin steps up to the board, carefully dropping his chips and watching as they bounce around before landing in various slots, each offering a different prize. His first chip lands in the $500 slot, followed by a $1,000 slot and a $500 slot. Excitement builds as Justin drops his final chip, which lands in the $10,000 slot, earning him a whopping $12,000 in total winnings.

The last game of the night is "Showcase Showdown," which offers contestants the chance to spin a giant wheel and potentially win huge prizes. The first contestant, Glenn, steps up to the wheel, nervously giving it a spin and watching as it lands on a value of $0.85. Jane steps up next and, much to the audience's delight, manages to spin a $1.00, earning herself an additional $10,000 in prize money. Justin is the final contestant of the night, and though he puts up a valiant effort, he ultimately falls short of the others' totals.

As the show comes to a close, Drew Carey thanks the contestants for their participation and congratulates them on their achievements. Though only one can win the grand prizes, all three contestants walk away with a sense of camaraderie and accomplishment, having faced their pricing fears and come out on top. The Price is Right season 2011 episode 1 is an exciting kickoff to the show's 28th season, offering a taste of the thrilling games, impressive prizes, and charming host that keep viewers tuned in year after year.
