Ep 5. Penny-Wiseguys

In season 24, episode 5 of The Simpsons titled "Penny-Wiseguys," the show's beloved dysfunctional family is back and in their usual misadventures. This episode centers around the unlikely partnership formed between Homer and a shady mobster named Fat Tony.

With their children busy at school, Marge encourages Homer to find a new leisure activity. Homer decides to try penny-wrestling at the local bar, and it's there that he meets Fat Tony. Homer, being Homer, quickly bungles everything and brings attention to Fat Tony's shady practices. The two wind up on the run from the authorities and seeking refuge in a church.

As always, the show's writers find a way to weave in other storylines that add both humor and heart to the episode. For instance, Bart's new hobby takes him down a unique path - carving trinkets out of horns. Lisa, meanwhile, grapples with the pressure to conform to social norms and fit in with her classmates.

"Penny-Wiseguys" is another great example of what makes The Simpsons such an enduring classic - it's a show that can balance satire, social commentary, and family dynamics all at once. Fans of the show won't be disappointed by this episode's classic hijinks.
