Ep 22. Trash of the Titans

In The Simpsons season 9 episode 22, Trash of the Titans, the town of Springfield is facing a garbage crisis and it's up to Homer to fix it. After he makes a rash promise to his wife Marge to take care of the garbage problem, Homer decides to run for the position of sanitation commissioner and wins by a land slide.

As the commissioner, Homer launches a new campaign called "Can't Somebody Else Do It?" which encourages the town residents to take more personal responsibility for their trash. However, it soon becomes clear that this strategy isn't going to work and Homer is forced to come up with a new plan.

Meanwhile, tensions rise in the Simpson household as Marge becomes increasingly frustrated with Homer's incompetence and neglect. It all comes to a head when he faces off against his arch-nemesis, Sanitation Commissioner "Ironfist" Burns, in a battle for the future of Springfield.
