The White Lotus Season 1, Episode 3: Mysterious Monkeys

In this episode of The White Lotus, tensions continue to simmer between the various guests at the Hawaiian resort, and cracks begin to appear in some of the relationships.

We see Tanya (Jennifer Coolidge) grappling with a sense of loneliness and isolation, as she struggles to cope with the loss of her mother and the realization that her own life has not turned out as she had hoped. She becomes drawn to Belinda (Natasha Rothwell), the resort's massage therapist, and the two women begin to form a bond - but their interactions are not entirely straightforward, as Tanya is used to getting her own way and may not be entirely aware of how her behavior is affecting Belinda.

Meanwhile, Rachel (Alexandra Daddario) finds herself at odds with her husband, Shane (Jake Lacy), as he becomes increasingly obsessed with a group of mysterious monkeys who have taken up residence in the trees outside their room. Rachel is worried about Shane's mental state, and begins to wonder if he is losing touch with reality - but he brushes off her concerns and becomes increasingly fixated on the monkeys.

Elsewhere, Armond (Murray Bartlett), the resort's manager, continues to struggle with his addiction and spirals further into self-destructive behavior. We see him indulging in drugs and alcohol, and making reckless decisions that could have serious consequences for both himself and the guests.

The episode also delves deeper into the lives of some of the other characters, including Paula (Brittany O'Grady), who is grappling with her own insecurities and feelings of inadequacy, and Mark (Steve Zahn), who is beginning to feel increasingly disconnected from his wife, Nicole (Connie Britton).

As the various threads of the story continue to unravel, tensions mount and secrets are revealed - leaving the audience on the edge of their seats and eager to see what happens in the next episode. With its sharp writing, strong performances, and gorgeously filmed setting, The White Lotus is shaping up to be one of the standout shows of the summer.
